Why are these not the same colour? (Or more different?)

Tide is known for its orange packaging, but as Procter and Gamble, the maker of Tide, has introduced more varieties of the detergent it uses the colour of the packaging to differentiate one type of Tide from another.

In some cases these makes sense, with the environmental friendly purclean variety in a transparent bottle. The "original recipe" Tide is still sold in an opaque orange bottle.

But then I saw these two bottles of Tide. The one of the left is the "original" formula and the one of the right is the "cold water" variety.

I find it perplexing that the colours of the packaging of these two varieties of Tide are so close. I doubt if most consumers would even pay attention to the difference. And those that did notice might assume that it was a problem with a dye lot, rather than a conscious effort at differentiation.
